About Us

Proud Local Business, Soaring Since 1986

Outback Ballooning has been delivering unforgettable hot air balloon experiences over Alice Springs since 1986. As a proud locally owned and operated business, we have a deep connection to the region and a passion for showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Red Centre.

Ballooning is more than just our business – it’s our passion. We love sharing the magic of floating above this vast, ancient landscape, offering a truly unique perspective of our home.

As one of Australia’s longest-running ballooning companies, we are the only operator specialising in remote Outback flights. We fly every day (weather permitting), except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, ensuring that as many adventurers as possible get to witness the magic of an Outback sunrise from the sky.

Sustainability

We are committed to protecting the Outback’s natural beauty through responsible and eco-conscious operations.

Community

As a proud local business, we support and contribute to the Alice Springs community and operate with respect for indigenous culture.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Outback Ballooning, consistent and effective environmental management is a top priority. We are committed to operating in a way that preserves the stunning natural beauty of the Outback while minimising our impact on the environment. Through responsible practices and adherence to strict industry standards, we ensure that our operations are both sustainable and respectful of the land we fly over.

Protecting the Land We Operate On

As we return to the same launch and landing locations regularly, it is in our best interest to maintain these areas in pristine natural condition. We take great care to minimise disruption, adhering to designated tracks and ensuring all waste from flights is collected and properly disposed of by our ground crew. By prioritising sustainable practices, we aim to protect the breathtaking landscapes of Central Australia for future generations to enjoy.

Our Team

Our experienced pilots bring a wealth of local knowledge and a passion for adventure. Many have flown in incredible locations worldwide, including Canada, Africa, and New Zealand, but they all agree – there’s nothing quite like soaring over the Red Centre.

Supporting them is our highly trained ground crew, who undergo regular safety training to ensure every flight is as smooth, secure, and enjoyable as possible.

Safety and quality are at the heart of everything we do, and our operations are fully regulated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), ensuring the highest standards in flight safety and maintenance. Thanks to the region’s reliable desert weather, we boast one of the world’s lowest cancellation rates, flying an impressive 250–300 days per year.
