Pre-Flight Prep
(This is the not-so-exciting, but important stuff!)
Before we can take you flying, each person will be required to complete an online check-in waiver. Keep an eye on your email as we’ll send you our online check-in waiver email and instructions 5 days prior to your flight date. We’ll also reconfirm your pickup time the day prior via text message or email. It is extremely important to be able to locate you if the weather is not suitable for ballooning (or in the event that you sleep in) – so remember to keep your mobile on.
Launch Site Arrival
We pick you up and take you to the launch site!
We’re determined to make your flying experience as easy as possible, which is why return transfers from all accommodation in Alice Springs is included with every booked flight. Please note that some places, like private address or rural properties, are not included in our pickup schedule. If this occurs, we will advise you of the best meeting location.
Pickup time is approximately 1 hour before first light, which varies throughout the year. The exact time will be provided in your booking confirmation email and re-confirmed the day before your flight. Please note that your pickup time may be adjusted slightly during this re-confirmation.
Inflate!
Before we can go anywhere, the hot air balloon needs to be inflated. You may arrive to see the balloon in its final stages of inflation or experience the entire setup process from the balloon being laid out. The timing varies depending on the balloon used for the flight on the day. (either way it’s a pretty cool process to witness!)
Soar!
Once you climb into the balloon and listen to the pilot’s important safety briefing, get ready to experience the breathtaking feeling of floating silently above the Outback as the sun slowly rises over the desert on your awe-inspiring ballooning adventure. Our ascent begins in pre dawn darkness, just as the morning light begins to illuminate the rugged MacDonnell Ranges. Float gently across the vast expanse of the Central Australian outback…and remember to keep an eye out for native wildlife including the iconic red kangaroo whilst you gain an appreciation of the remoteness of the area as the balloon glides across the landscape.
Refresh, Reflect…Mix & Mingle
After landing assist the crew as they pack the balloon away (or not! The choice is yours). There’ll be time to enjoy the desert tranquility as light refreshments accompanied by sparkling wine and fruit juice are served. There is an opportunity to purchase ballooning souvenirs and a commemorative flight certificate is given to all participants before heading back to town.
Hot Air Balloon Chase
Not keen on hopping aboard the flight, but still want to join the fun with your family and friends? Then our Hot Air Balloon Chase is for you!
We will pick you up with your group in the morning and travel to the launch site and watch as the balloon takes off. You will then travel through the desert tracks with our crew to where the balloon lands. Once you re-join your group, you can help pack up with balloon or take photos the choice is yours. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or fruit juice with light refreshments before returning to town.
Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)
Hot Air Balloon Chase must be booked in conjunction with at least 1 adult booked on a balloon flight. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Request basis only as limited space available on each tour.
